This Sunday - Guitar sunday
Dear St Luke Community,
We enter our second week on practicing our faith. If you missed last week and would like to listen or read you can do so by clicking this link: http://www.stlukepres.org/resources/sermons/inescapable-you/
This Sunday I will sit down for a dialogue sermon with my favorite yoga teacher to talk about the practice of Yoga as it relates to the practice of our faith life. Language so often gets in our way of understanding other traditions and I’m hoping that this dialogue will help us to learn more of how we can bridge the gap between what so many in Marin call the “spiritual but not religious.”
At the end of each class Heather ends the class by saying this…”
That’s a tall order, but it’s at the very core of our faith as followers of Jesus Christ. We are called not just to practice being spiritual beings in church or in a yoga studio, but to take the benefits of that practice
Our scripture focus reflects these thoughts-
Psalm 119:73-80 (The Message)
Ephesians 4:2-5, 29-32 (NRSV)
John 13:34-35 (NRSV)
We will have a full band for guitar Sunday with lots of great music, so I encourage everyone to record the World Cup Final should it go into overtime. :)
See you Sunday,
Nicole

Summer Sermon Series ~ Practicing Faith-July 8th-29th
Over these four Sundays, Rev Trotter will explore spiritual practices that deepen our relationship with God. Worshipping God each Sunday is only one part of what we do as disciples of Jesus Christ. God has given us every moment and aspect of our lives to grow in deeper relationship with God.
Some practices have a long history in the religions of the world. Others are as ordinary as the things we do in daily life.
Pulling from the following books in conjunction with supporting scripture, we will explore a different individual and congregational practice each Sunday.
An Altar in the World: A Geography of Faith, Barbara Brown Taylor
The Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations, Robert Schnase
No need to purchase the books.
